Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation bridge - My Sunday Photo
Chelmsford’s newest bridge, which carries Chelmer Road over the Chelmer and Blackwater Canal.
When the local council decided that the old bridge, which had been in place for decades, had to go, it was replaced with this.
The road was widened slightly and the new bridge built over the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation was erected alongside the old one. It was done this way so as not to cause traffic chaos. Once the new bridge was up, the old one was destroyed.
You can walk from the city centre along the Navigation. Doing so takes you through fairly peaceful fields and dirt roads. Ten minutes down the line you see the new bridge. Moreso you see the mural that stretches along the side.
This picture was taken when Mrs DannyUK and I strolled along the water’s edge with the kids a few weeks ago.

That does look very modern and contemporary
If that grass was fully grown that would be a great spot. Good photo, though.
