Sick of being sick
The heating is on, I’m dosed up to the eyeballs on cold and flu tablets and my body is switching between being hot and shivering. I’m sick of being sick.
It’s only early February and yet I feel as though I can barely remember the last time I felt 100% ok. In fact, off the top of my head this is the various ailments I’ve suffered since Christmas:
A bout of gastro-enteritis.
A heavy cold.
Deafness in my left ear lasting a couple of days.
Deafness in my right ear lasting three weeks (so far).
Another bout of cold symptoms.
To say that it’s getting me down is probably understating it. The ongoing ear problems haven’t been resolved by a visit to see a nurse, then a doctor as well as two lots of eardrops and a thorough vacuum-sucking by the GP.
I’m hoping that a return visit on Wednesday will sort out the issue. If it doesn’t then I could be in trouble as early on Thursday morning I am flying out to Tenerife with Mrs DannyUK and the stepkids.
Being in a confined and pressurised cabin for four hours with a dodgy ear doesn’t strike me as being the most comfortable thing in the world.
For now, all I can do is contain popping pills like they’re going out of fashion and wrap up warm.
