Bearded Backchat with Jessica from Beauties and the bibs

Bearded Backchat is a chance for me to interview PR people and fellow bloggers.  This week it’s Jessica from Beauties and the bibs

Beauty and the bibs blog header

Who are you?

Jessica Harvey.

What is your “day job”?

At the moment I am on maternity leave but before starting my maternity leave I was a nursery manager.

What is your blog called and where can we find it?

My blog is Beauties and the bibs and you can find it at

What’s your blog about?

I write about the ups and downs of being a parent and all the new things I am learning about being a new parent.

Why did you start blogging?

I had my daughter via a c-section and was finding it very hard being at home all the time as I couldn’t drive. My blog gave me a place to write down all these thoughts and feelings.

Why do you still blog?

It gives me a sense of being, something for me apart from being a full-time mommy.

How has blogging changed since you started?

I have only been blogging now for just over 4 months now, so not a lot has changed in that small time but I’m sure it will.

Would you count your blog as a job or something fun to do in your spare time?

I do It for fun hopefully I am helping others in situations like mine. Although I do let it stress me out at times, that’s only because I like everything to be perfect and completed on time. This can sometimes be hard when looking after a little one.

Where do you get the inspiration to write a blog post?

Life! I find that the posts that are well received are the posts that everyone can relate to.

Be it talking about the last time you wore clothes without baby sick or food on to the moments of joy. Graduating from university was one of my biggest achievements recently.

If you could recommend three other blogs to read, what three would you recommend and why?

Faye from Glossy Tots as she inspired me to start blogging

Abby from you baby me, mommy, as if I am ever stuck on what to do then her blog has all the answers

Stevie from A Cornish mom I just love her style of writing and her photos are awesome !

What is the single best thing that has come about as a result of your blog?

I have become a part of such a great community thanks to Donna from what the redhead said and her Facebook group. Where I can ask questions relating to blogging or somewhere I can just rant about life.

What would be your perfect blog post?

This is a hard one as some posts I thought I would hate writing have been really enjoyable. I am looking forward to blogging about a holiday we are going to go on next year.

What can you recommend to other bloggers to increase the traffic to their sites?

Take part in linkys they are awesome, they bring people to your blog and hopefully, some of them may return. Just remember to put in what you take out !.

Which brands do you enjoy working with?

I am so grateful for those brands that believed in me in the very early days like Ella’s kitchen and Clair de Lune.

I love the products that they send and are very generous with what they send. As I think they understand what work we put into a post.

Everyone has that one company that they have always wanted to work with but have never quite been able to. Who is yours?

I would love to work with Silver Cross as I love their products. I have their Wayfarer myself and cannot recommend it enough. It is a brand close to my heart as I had a silver cross as a child and I wanted the same quality pushchair for my daughter.

What is your own personal favourite post on your site?

I have recently written a post about finding your friends as I just wanted to make people aware that having loads of so called friends isn’t important . One great friend is all you need I wish I had known this when I was younger.

Whose blog would you love to be featured on or write a guest post for?

I would be honoured to write on any blog I am still a bit overwhelmed people actually read my blog if I’m honest.

Lastly, if you were to interview another blogger, what question would you ask that I haven’t asked here?…

How do you balance your blog work with your home life?

… And what is your answer to that question?

I tend to wait till nap times or when my daughter is in bed.

Thanks for taking part, Jess!
