Bearded Backchat with StressedMum.co.uk’s Sam
Bearded Backchat is a chance for me to interview PR people and fellow bloggers. This week is Sam from StressedMum.co.uk.
Who are you?
I am Sam aka StressedMum
What is your “day job”?
Obviously I am a Blogger, but also work with my husband in his photography business and deal with all the day to day stuff with that, and am a Mum and housewife.
What is your blog called and where can we find it?
My blog is called StressedMum and you can find it at http://www.stressedmum.co.uk
What’s your blog about?
My blog is everything that revolves around my daily life of being a mum to my pre-teen daughter, and everything else that revolves around our lives.
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging, as I loved reading blogs and thought I would love to do this, even if no one else read my blog it would be memories to look back on in years to come. I also missed doing something for me, that is mine.
Why do you still blog?
I love everything about blogging, I love engaging with my readers, sharing my stories and thoughts, or what I have been up to. I love the blogging community as everyone is so supportive and helpful and I have made some great friends, and most importantly I enjoy it.
How has blogging changed since you started?
I have only been blogging a short time in comparison to some, I haven’t really changed much about it, as I blog about anything.
Would you count your blog as a job or something fun to do in your spare time?
A bit of both really, it is a job as my blog is my baby, and I get my me time, but it is also fun.
Where do you get the inspiration to write a blog post?
If it is just general posts then my mind is always thinking about what I can blog about, or I must remember to blog about that, or that would make a great post.
If it is a review post, I do sometimes put it off as I have to be in the right frame of mind and know I am not going to be disturbed.
If you could recommend three other blogs to read, what three would you recommend and why?
This is a hard one as there are so many great blogs out there
1) http://theadultieradult.com - This is a must read blog to any parents out there, she tells you what it is really like to be a parent to a baby and toddler in such a fun and great way.
2) http://www.fadedspring.co.uk - At first glance you would think this is a blog about fashion, and Ana is gorgeous and has a wardrobe to die for. But she also tells her story, which is quite hard to read as she has had such a tough time. She is very open and honest and such an amazing and strong woman.
3) - http://www.whatlauralovesuk.com - I love this blog, Laura writes about everything from fashion to beauty products, her blog is fun and her bubbly enthusiasm shines through.
There are so many more I could add to the list, but have tried to pick one for different blog topics.
What is the single best thing that has come about as a result of your blog?
It has to be being part of the amazing blogging community
What would be your perfect blog post?
My perfect blog post at the moment would be me announcing my Daughter is finally better. But long term my first-year anniversary post, I am really looking forward to celebrating my first year.
What can you recommend to other bloggers to increase the traffic to their sites?
You have to work hard on social media, and also interact with other blogs.
Which brands do you enjoy working with?
Last year, I worked with ‘Best of British’ and was lucky enough to review products from a few of their companies, I loved this as everything was ‘home grown’ so to speak. I have also worked with some amazing Pr’s who I am happy to work with again.
Everyone has that one company that they have always wanted to work with but have never quite been able to. Who is yours?
I have a long list of companies I would love to work with, and I do work very hard in promoting when working with a company. I would love to work with Merlin on their attractions for Days Out.
What is your own personal favourite post on your site?
It has to be this one about. I am a stepmum to two fantastic boys, everyone knows how much I adore my daughter and love being a Mum. But I wanted to write about being a sStepmum, I am so proud of the boys.
Whose blog would you love to be featured on or write a guest post for?
I have been very lucky to feature on some fantastic blogs, and still have guest posts ready to be published on others in the future.
Lastly, if you were to interview another blogger, what question would you ask that I haven’t asked here?…
Would you like to make blogging your full-time job?
… And what is your answer to that question?
It would be lovely to make it my full-time job, maybe that is something that will happen in the future.
