Which way should the toilet roll hang?
It’s a controversial issue, but one that I am now tackling head on. Which way should the toilet roll hang?
Sure, we could pretend that it’s not important. We could lie and say that there are no reasons to put the roll on the holder a certain way round. But let’s not kid ourselves. There is a right way and a wrong way. I am here to clarify for those not sure (and perhaps those who don’t realise they are in the wrong) exactly which way is correct.
I’ve been in relationships before where I have disagreed with the then-other half about which way the roll should be hung. There are many things that can make or break a relationship, but although one can forgive and forget mistakes, foibles, and minor indiscretions, it’s almost impossible to rectify something so obviously incorrect. In this relationship, we had a cat and mouse game of forever turning the roll around in an ongoing battle of bog-roll-based wits.
So without further ado, let’s reveal the answer. The correct way to put the toilet roll is so that it hangs at the front of the roll rather than the back. Why? Simply because it looks better, it is easier to reach and pull out more paper, and there is much less chance of stubbing your fingers into the wall as you get the paper. If you are the type of person that hangs the paper so that it is almost flush with the wall, then you are doing it wrong. Thankfully, you now know the correct way, and you can rectify your actions from now on.
However, come the revolution, if I’m in charge, those hanging paper the incorrect way will be the first lot shipped out to France where they can forever adopt the bidet-love that our continental neighbours embrace so much.
