I was recently contacted by the lovely people at The Works and asked if I fancied writing a blog post about them and what they offer. From stationery to home and leisure, they have it all.
The Works have also asked me to put together a wish list to highlight some of the fantastic items they have for sale.
Sadly they haven’t promised to send me anything from the list, though hopefully they’ll read this and get in contact for my address!
We have a store in Chelmsford, nestled neatly by an entrance to The Meadows Shopping Centre. It’s been there for as long as I can remember and we’ve been customers for just as long.
I’m always popping in to have a look around. The shelves are packed roof to rafter with books while the aisles offer a mixture of toys, games, art and craft supplies as well as stationery and lots more.
My youngest daughter, Brooke, who is 12, would happily spend her pocket money in there every week if she could. Brooke’s a stationery lover. Where many kids long for the latest Pokemon Go release, or avidly watch cartoons on Netflix, Brooker is a sucker for pens.
You can pick up a pack of 60 gel pens for just £7. That’s enough to keep even Brooke happy for a while. (Not to mention that it’s also enough to allow for the inevitable stealing of a pen here and there by me!)
Dr Seuss box set and Pokemon box set
Next up would be a personal favourite. The Dr Seuss box set.
I used to love reading the classic Dr Seuss books to the kids when they were growing up. Whether it’s The Cat In The Hat or Green Eggs and Ham, or even one of the lesser-known titles, the books are timeless.
At the time of writing there is a whopping 75% off of the recommended retail price for this which saves you almost £90.
Talking of box sets, Chance, my 10-year-old, is Pokemon mad.
Thankfully there is a Pokemon Adventures Red & Blue Box Set available too, which may drag him away from his Pokemon Go app and back to reading for a while.
Home and Leisure
It seems that everyone and his wife has a lightbox these days, but I don’t. It may be a little kitsch, but I like it. The Works have them on sale for £10.
Winter may be on the way out, but there’s still plenty of time to snuggle up under a Tartan Luxury Fleece Blanket on the sofa. They’re just £4 each and measure a decent 150cm x 125cm.
Lastly, my kids love juice drinks. What better way to fill them full of their 5-a-day than to make the drinks ourselves? The Electric Turbo Juicer is on sale at the moment for just £25.
Free Click and Collect at The Works
There are an amazing 375 stores nationwide and every single one offers a click and collect service.
If you’re one of the unfortunate ones that doesn’t have a local store then you can get the same goods delivered (and if you’re spending £20 or more then delivery is free!)
Not only that, but the rewards card on offer gives you 5p back for every £1 you spend. That’s five times better than Tesco’s clubcard!
You can also collect Quidco cashback when you visit The Works (and it’s a whopping 12.6% at the time of writing).
Visit The Works online or pop into your local store. You’ll be amazed at how much there is on offer.
