Bearded Backchat with Andrea from AndreaLouise aka BloggerMumma

Bearded Backchat is a chance for me to interview PR people and fellow bloggers.  This week it’s Disney-obsessed Andrea from AndreaLouise, though you may know her better as her former name of BloggerMumma.

Who are you?

I’m Andrea 🙂

What is your “day job”?

I am currently a full-time mother to two very lively boys, Alfie and Archie.

What is your blog called and where can we find it?

My blog is now called Andrea Louise, some of you may know me as BloggerMumma as that was my previous name for about 2 ½  years.

You can find my blog at www.andrealouise.co.uk

What’s your blog about?

My blog is about everything that makes me, me.

There is a section on parenting, lifestyle and beauty. I feature my pets Daisy the Chihuahua and Lilo & Stitch the guinea pigs. There are reviews and posts on Disney, as I’m a tad obsessed.

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I couldn’t find somewhere I fitted in.

I was pregnant with my second child and wanted a place to be me. I remember buying the pregnancy and baby magazines and thinking I am not the audience they are targeting, it’s not relevant to me, my age or lifestyle so creating my blog gave me that outlet, a tiny space in the big wide web to be me and to be creative in any way I chose.

Why do you still blog?

I love blogging, from the social side to the networking with brands.

I love to just escape for a couple of hours, being at home all day talking to a 2-year-old can be lonely especially when the conversations are limited to Jake and the Neverland Pirates and milk!

How has blogging changed since you started?

I think that in the last couple of years the blogging world has really changed, there are a lot of people just blogging for the free stuff and to be the next Zoella.

I remember when I started people were much friendlier and helpful and now it’s all about being the best, and stats.

I’m really not into that kind of thing, I’m a person, not a number. But don’t get me wrong there are some extremely nice and kind bloggers out there, I met my best friend through blogging!

Would you count your blog as a job or something fun to do in your spare time?

Honestly, I would love my blog to be my full-time job, I just don’t really know how to get there.

I see so many full-time bloggers throwing out posts and being constantly on social media I have no idea how they do it and fit it in with their day as well as looking after children.  I think I would be able to do more once Archie is at school purely because my partner works unsociable hours. So 6 days a week I’m on my own with the kids.

Where do you get the inspiration to write a blog post?

I never like to rush a post and I never write when I’m not in the mood. I’ve learnt over the years that I work best when I’m inspired and happy.

I take inspiration from everyday life, from personal  experiences, and sometimes I get inspiration just by reading other blog posts.

If you could recommend three other blogs to read, what three would you recommend and why?

Ok  so right now I would have to recommend

Martyn from Inside Martyns Thoughts - Martyn is just a generally lovely guy. He blogs about home-schooling his two boys which I find so fascinating. I actually met Martyn at BritMums last year and ever since then have been trying to convince him to unleash his Disney side.

Vicki from Elliebearbabi – Vicki is my best friend and the most loyalist friend ever. She blogs about lifestyle, crafts and life being a mum. She is also in the process of starting a second blog all about holistic therapy.

Fiona from DollyDowsie – Fiona’s blog is just beautiful I love her vintage style especially in her photos.  Her son Tyler-Lee is always dressed in gorgeous clothes. Her posts are always a pleasure to read.

What is the single best thing that has come about as a result of your blog?

Meeting my best friend Vicki. We don’t live anywhere near each other, she’s in Belfast, I’m in Oxfordshire, however, she is coming to visit just before my birthday in April!  I would never have found her if it wasn’t for blogging.

What would be your perfect blog post?

My perfect blog post would be something Disney related, I would love to work with Disney themselves and produce a creative post or series.

What can you recommend to other bloggers to increase the traffic to their sites?

I’m not a popular blogger so my traffic isn’t high. All I can say is: be true to yourself, don’t change and if people like you, they will come back.

I would say that posting links to posts on social media regularly will also help!

Which brands do you enjoy working with?

I’ve worked with some amazing brands and extremely thankful for all the opportunities I get but I have recently really loved working with MintyCoco and Nutribuddy.

Everyone has that one company that they have always wanted to work with but have never quite been able to. Who is yours?

There are so many brands I would love to work with but Disney is my ultimate. As I said before I would love to collaborate with them on a post or series of posts.

I’m a huge Disney fan it’s the one thing that was always there in my childhood which at times was very up and down. Disney has always been my escape.

I have hopes that I will one day work with them and create some amazing content and until that day comes I will just keep telling myself that “If you can dream it, you can do it!”

What is your own personal favourite post on your site?

At this moment in time, my favourite post is A Letter to My Boys. I wrote it just before Archie’s second birthday, I want them to have this letter when they are both grown up with families of their own.

I thought it would be nice for them to see what their mother - at the age of 25 - wanted for their future.

Whose blog would you love to be featured on or write a guest post for?

I would love to be featured on LilMissChickas she is a fellow Disney blogger,  so I’m forever checking out her new Disney posts.

Lastly, if you were to interview another blogger, what question would you ask that I haven’t asked here?…

What would you have done differently if you could go back in time with the knowledge you have now about blogging ?

… And what is your answer to that question?

I would have really planned the direction I wanted to go in as over the last 2 years I felt lost and unsettled.

Now I’m happy in a place where I feel content. I would also choose to be more organised as my blogging life is all over the shop! Which is so unlike me as in my normal everyday life I’m super organised and 5 steps ahead!

Thanks for taking part, Andrea!

Andrea has asked people to take the time to check out her Instagram and also pop over with a cuppa to her twitter page for a little natter.
