Who are you?

Laura.

What is your “day job”?

Being a mummy to my two daughters, Alice and Holly.

What is your blog called and where can we find it?

My blog is called ‘dear bear and beany’ and you can find it at www.dearbearandbeany.com.

What’s your blog about?

It’s a parenting and lifestyle blog. A place for me to capture my daughter’s childhood, a place for my rambling thoughts and to share it with everyone.

Why did you start blogging?

I first thought about starting a blog three years ago when I was on maternity leave with my eldest, but I wasn’t brave enough. The thought never went away and I finally decided to go after a push from my husband. I am now kicking myself that I didn’t do it sooner, as I love it.

Why do you still blog?

I am new to blogging, but I have completely fallen in love with it. I love that it is all mine and I can take it in any direction I wish.

How has blogging changed since you started?

Not much in four months…next question!

I can’t believe it’s only been four months! It seems so much longer. Would you count your blog as a job or something fun to do in your spare time?

I am definitely in the hobby category, I blog during my daughter’s nap time and in the evenings. I would say it is fun, but then maybe that’s because I am new to it and I love every bit at the moment. Maybe over time, this may change, who knows!

Where do you get the inspiration to write a blog post?

The random thoughts that are always whirling around my head, I can now turn into a blog post. Which is fab! I always have a notebook nearby to jot everything down.

If you could recommend three other blogs to read, what three would you recommend and why?

A blog that I have been reading for about four years and love every single post, adore the photography is Mummy Daddy Me.

Next would be a blog that I also read long before I became a blogger - Bump to Baby. I love the simplicity of her writing and Alex has been so kind to be since I started my own blog.

Thirdly, a blog that I have discovered since becoming a blogger and I love it so much I am going back over old posts. That is Mummy and Monkey’s, I love how honest Eilidh is and her blog is beautiful

What is the single best thing that has come about as a result of your blog?

To have something that is mine. I love being at home with my girls, but I also need something for me and I am lucky that blogging has given that to me.

What would be your perfect blog post?

A post that helped a reader, maybe because they could relate to it and they realised they weren’t alone. Or that I had given them some advice and it helped them. Something that would make a difference to someone.

What can you recommend to other bloggers to increase the traffic to their sites?

This is all still very new to me, but I find that by joining linky’s, supporting other bloggers in guest series and guest posts has been great for me.

Which brands do you enjoy working with?

I have only worked with a few brands, but the one that I have loved it Just for Tiny People. Effie the lady behind the magic, has supported me and my blog from day one.

Everyone has that one company that they have always wanted to work with but have never quite been able to. Who is yours?

I haven’t approached any brands yet, as I am finding my feet still and I am a tiny blog in a large pool. But, if I could work with any brand it would be Next clothing. I adore their clothes for girls and my husband always tells me I should have shares in the company I have brought so much!

Ahhh, I love Next stuff too! What is your own personal favourite post on your site?

My I learnt from the best post because it was one of the posts that just flowed right out of me and onto the page. I didn’t have to overthink it or edit it. When I read it back, I surprised myself with what I had written, it truly was from the heart.

Whose blog would you love to be featured on or write a guest post for?

I love doing guest posts and have done a few already. It’s a great way for me to meet new bloggers and become part of the blogging community, which I think is fab!

There isn’t one single blog that I would love to guest post for, it’s about the right type of blog or the right type of post or series.

Lastly, if you were to interview another blogger, what question would you ask that I haven’t asked here?…

Where did your blog name come from? I love seeing all the different names of blogs and I am always intrigued as to how they came about deciding that was the right name for their blog.

… And what is your answer to that question?

My blog name came from the nicknames we have for our two girls, names that we have called them forever and it felt the most natural name for me to have.
